Malta’s waterpolo team lost the final World Cup qualifier match to Romania on Sunday, with a score of 13-6.

Malta’s six goals throughout the match were scored by Liam Galea, Jayden Cutajar, Sam Gialanze, and Benji Cachia, with two of them being Jeremy Abela’s.

However, even though the team lost the final match, Malta still placed third in the overall final classification, beating both Ukraine and Great Britain.

This comes after Malta emerged triumphant over Ukraine and Britain in the previous games held over the weekend in Romania.

Following the defeat, Coach Milan Cirovic expressed that even though Malta did not win the latest match, these qualifications confirmed a bright future for the waterpolo team.

Malta will now be moving on to the semi-finals of the qualifications, which will be held in Berlin in May.
