Maltese Actress And GOT Star Cast In Fantastical Terry Pratchett-Inspired BBC Series

A thrilling new series has just been announced by BBC America, and it features some of the most awesome names in entertainment right now… including one of Malta’s very own, Marama Corlett.

The Maltese actress has already had some massive features, including working alongside Lindsey Lohan and Rupert Grint, featuring in the Angelina Jolie hit Maleficent, and even learning a foreign language for her role as an alien pit boss in the blockbuster movie Guardians of the Galaxy (though the scene, unfortunately, didn’t make it to the final cut).

She’ll now be featuring alongside Game of Thrones’ Richard Dormer in The Watch, a new series based on Sir Terry Pratchett’s beloved Discworld novels.

The Watch is set to hit everyone right in the nostalgia with the fantasy Discworld series getting the Hollywood treatment

The show will revolve around the dysfunctional Night Watch as they patrol the city-state of Ankh-Morpork, full of over-the-top magical escapades.

As part of the city guard, Marama will be playing Corporal Angua. Corporal Angua is a veteran of the Night Watch, and in the eight-part series, she’ll be taking care of Constable Carrot, a human orphan raised by dwarves, making sure he survives long enough to get promoted.

The series is being directed by Craig Viveros, and the BBC has described the new show as follows:

Set in the fictional city of Ankh-Morpork, where crime has been legalised, The Watch is a uniquely anarchic and thrillingly entertaining police procedural. The character-driven comedy centres on a group of misfit cops as they rise up from decades of helplessness to save their corrupt city from catastrophe. The Watch is inspired by the legendary ‘City Watch’ subset of Sir Terry Pratchett’s bestselling Discworld novels and its many iconic characters.
