Maltese Authority Warns Pastizzeriji Against ‘Prohibited’ 33% Price Increase
Malta’s Office for Competition has released a stern warning to all places across the island selling pastizzi.
In a press release, the organisation reminded vendors price fixing is prohibited, and the across-the-board, 33% increase in price is a serious infringement of the Competition Act.
This statement came after reports surfaced of a near-national surge in the cost of pastizzi.
Producers have been told to determine their prices “independently” and were informed that if the Office for Competition finds an infringement of the relevant articles of the Competition Act, they will “proceed accordingly against the undertakings concerned in terms of the Competition Act.”
