Maltese Civil Protection Team Wraps Up EU Mission Investigating Fires In Libya

Civil Protection Malta has just completed a five-day EU-funded mission in Libya, assisting local authorities with an investigation into a surge in unusual residential fires in the town of Al-Asabya.

The mission, carried out under the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid Mechanism, saw five specialised firefighters from Malta deployed on the ground, supported remotely by international experts from Estonia and Finland.

After conducting an on-site assessment, the Maltese team submitted its primary findings to the Libyan authorities for further investigation.

Civil Protection Malta thanked the Libyan National Center for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management for their support and cooperation throughout the operation.
