Maltese Co-Founded Baby Food Company Nominated For Evening Standard Business Award

Article Featured Image

Just three months ago we spoke to Maltese creative Kane O’Flaherty about the baby food company he co-founded – Piccolo – which produces possibly the cutest baby food products you’ve seen in ages. Back then it was already doing super well, and selling with a bunch of top retailers. Now, it’s been nominated for the Evening Standard Business Awards in the ‘SME of the Year’ category.

O’Flaherty designed from head to toe, putting bold and playful emphasis on the brand’s USP – its Mediterranean ingredients. “We wanted to be known to be THE cool baby food brand,” O’Flaherty told us.

Well, it looks like they’re getting there, and fast.

The Evening Standard is the dominant evening paper for London, handed out free to hundreds of thousands of commuters as they travel across the busy city. The awards are judged by their panel of business experts, and the nominees are also decided by the panel.

And it’s no surprise that they turned their attention to Piccolo for this year’s round up of nominees. The start-up forecasted a turnover of £2m in its first year, increased its product line, and became a well trusted brand in part because of its alliance with the UK’s National Childbirth Trust (NCT).

Aside from being mega-impressed with this superb company, we can now also enjoy their industry-changing products in Malta. How’s that for an all-round win?

Piccolo can be purchased from your local supermarket. Visit their website for more information on their organic, Mediterranean inspired range.
