Maltese Cyclists Cover 1,300Km Of Spanish Terrain To Raise Funds For Cancer Research

An ambitious group of 35 cyclists from Malta have completed a 1,300km tour in Spain to raise money for cancer research.
Cyclists from the Alive Foundation undertook the challenge to cycle from Barcelona to Santiago de Compostela in seven days.
Besides the long stretch of terrain to cover, the group said they faced a series of hurdles – a heatwave, heavy rain, and many hills along the way.
But it didn’t stop them from completing their mission yesterday.
“The cyclists were driven by a strong purpose: to raise funds for cancer research. The thought of the difficulties that cancer patients and their families endure is what inspired them to complete the journey,” the foundation said in a statement.
The Alive Foundation was established in 2013, and its goal is to gather funds for cancer research and other studies that take place at the University of Malta.
They have completed over ten challenges over since its establishment, only stopping during the pandemic. In the last ten years, they’ve cycled in Norway, Poland, Germany, Italy and now Spain.
