A 29-year-old Maltese doctor has gone missing in Cape Town, South Africa while attending a medical seminar.

Alarm bells rang when Stefano Corso stepped out of the conference to attend a phone call but never returned, a South African police spokesperson said. Video footage available to the authorities even shows him leaving the seminar.

According to reports, he was last seen in Paarden Island yesterday at 3.35pm wearing beige pants, a white t-shirt, and a black jacket.

All attempts by his colleagues to reach him through the phone have proved unsuccessful which resulted in the filing of a missing persons report at the Maitland precinct.

Times of Malta confirmed that the diplomatic services were notified early this morning by a Maltese person who was accompanying Corso in the country. The doctor’s family in Malta has also been informed.

The Malta police are looking into the case through the Interpol Unit.
