Maltese International Footballer Pleads Guilty To Harassing Ex-Girlfriend
A Maltese international football player has been remanded in custody after repeatedly violating a court order by harassing his ex-girlfriend.
Gżira United’s Clifford Gatt Baldacchino pleaded guilty to the charges, which included the misuse of telecommunications equipment and causing fear to the victim.
Gatt Baldacchino was first placed under a court order upon request of his ex-girlfriend, who claimed he was “obsessed” with her following the end of their relationship.
He has twice breached the order on 16 August and on 23 August. On both occasions, he received a suspended sentence.
However, he followed the woman to a beach the following Sunday, only to bombard her with phone calls on 28th August.
Sentencing will take place at a later date.
