A 38-year-old Serbian man is being held in police custody in Floriana after a violent incident early this morning in Qawra.

Police investigations indicate that an argument broke out between three individuals – the Serbian, a 31-year-old Maltese man and a 31-year-old Englishwoman – at around 6.30am this morning in Triq Andrew Cunningham.

During the argument, the Serbian man is believed to have pulled out a knife, police said, and threatened the other two individuals.

The Maltese man suffered some stab wounds before fleeing the home.

However, the woman attempted to flee from the balcony, falling one storey.

The two individuals were given medical assistance on the scene before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

The Englishwoman was certified to have grievous injuries, and the Maltese man was certified to have slight injuries.

Police arrested the Serbian man in the same residence, and took him to Floriana. Police investigations are still underway.
