A 74-year-old Maltese paedophile has been jailed for ten years after pleading guilty to sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy, paying him for oral sex and painting erotic pictures of children in sexual positions with adults.

Michael Charles Muscat, who had already spent six years in prison for similar crimes, pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech described Muscat’s crime as an inexcusable and extremely serious one that has caused irreparable damage to his victim’s innocence.

Taking into account his previous conviction, the magistrate jailed Muscat for ten years, placed him on the sex offenders’ registry, and issued him with a three-year restraining order as well a a three-year psychological treatment order.
