Reforms parliamentary secretary Julia Farrugia Portelli has filed a police report over a Facebook comment which said Labour supporters who gathered in front of the party headquarters last night deserved to be bombed.
“I’ve formally asked the police to investigate this person who commented on a Lovin Malta live stream that a bomb should be placed in the middle of people who had peacefully gathered outside the Labour headquarters,” Farrugia Portelli said. “Angels of peace, right?”
The Facebook profile the police are now investigating appears to be a fake account, with its profile photo a photo gleaned from the Internet.
With tensions rising high, people have taken to flagging violent Facebook comments from both sides of the divide.
Teenage activist Eve Borg Bonello, who delivered a speech at a recent protest, was told she will end up like Daphne Caruana Galizia and a number of people commented that people protesting for the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat deserve to be killed.
