Maltese Sex Worker Sentenced To Seven Months In Prison For Loitering Seven Years Ago
A 48-year-old woman from Qawra has been sentenced to seven months in prison after being found guilty of loitering for prostitution purposes seven years ago.
The woman was arrested on December 2016 in Ta’ Xbiex at 11pm and was sentenced today, seven years after her initial arrest.
Magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace heard the details of the case as presented by the prosecution, led by Inspector Hubert Gerada.
In addition to the prostitution charge, she was found guilty of violating a probation order issued in October 2019, which subsequently labeled her as a repeat offender.
The court was informed that the woman failed to comply with several conditions imposed by the court, including maintaining regular contact with Sedqa, a local agency for drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
As the woman admitted to the charges brought against her, she was required to report to the agency every fifteen days due to her ongoing struggle with drug addiction.
