Maltese Shopkeeper Charged In Connection To 1.2kg Cocaine Operation

A shopkeeper has pleaded not guilty to charges linked to a major drug and money laundering police operation which led to the discovery of 1.2kg of cocaine.
David Mifsud, aged 40, was charged with trafficking, money laundering and recidivism in court earlier today.
He was arrested on 24th October at around 4.30pm, with police officers telling the court how they apprehended him along Triq Oscar Zammit in Msida while he was driving his vehicle.
Mifsud cooperated with police and indicated that he had illegal items in the back of the car.
Around 102 capsules of what is believed to be cocaine were discovered, while a further 14 were found in his shop.
The total amount was 1.2kg and amounted to around €95,000.
No request for bail was made.
Magsitrate Natasha Galea Sciberras presided over the court. The prosecution is made up of Inspectors Jonathan Pace, John Leigh Howard and Lianne Bonello.
