Watch: Maltese Students Bring A Hellish Twist To Gamescom Stage

Ever felt like you had the boss from hell? That’s the premise behind Internal Affairs, a puzzle platformer developed by students at the University of Malta’s Institute of Digital Games.
In this quirky title, players take on the role of Satan’s intern, navigating constantly changing rules and a terrifying hellscape to complete tasks for the Devil himself.
The game was pitched at European Game Night, the indie showcase that kicks off Gamescom, Europe’s biggest video game industry event.
The student team, DIEnosaur, turned indie studio for the occasion, and was joined by Malta-based developer HASOO to pitch alongside emerging studios from across Europe.
While French team Blue Ramen won with their photography game Mafate, the presence of two Maltese studios on such a stage was hailed as a milestone for Malta’s growing gaming ecosystem.
“Showcasing the game at Gamescom was eye-opening,” said level designer Roxanne Poggi. “It exposed us to the realities of professional studios and gave us invaluable feedback from industry experts.”
Supported by GamingMalta, the students hope their game’s success marks the start of bigger opportunities. A free demo of Internal Affairs is available online.
Would you survive being Satan’s intern?
