Maltese citizens are among the top nationals when it comes to accessing other countries with the island’s passport.

“The Maltese passport is currently ranked 11th on the list of the world’s most powerful passports. This means that Maltese citizens can travel to 155 countries without a visa,” VisaGuide.World, a global guide aimed at providing visa requirements for each country, said after their latest survey.

Based on the data provided by VisaGuide, here are some of the countries and territories where Maltese passport holders can enter visa-free:

Australia
Canada
Japan
New Zealand
Philippines
Qatar
Singapore
Turkey
United States
Schengen Area

“Moreover, there are a number of other countries that Maltese nationals can visit even without a passport, including: Georgia, Ireland, Netherlands, San Marino, and Slovakia,” the site continued.

Two years ago, another study held during the COVID-19 pandemic, by Maltese passport-sellers Henley & Partners, found that the Maltese passport was the 8th strongest in the world.

That study found that Malta tied with Greece, Croatia and Australia, with a total of 184 countries giving Maltese passport holders access.
