A young child and a baby have been left with serious injuries after two cars were involved in a head-on collision in Mosta.

The crash happened at around 7:10 pm on Sunday, after a Toyota Rav 4 and Toyota Yaris collided on  Triq Ta’ Żejfa in Mosta, right by the Mount St Joseph Retreat House.

The RAV 4 was driven by a 33-year-old man from Ħaż-Żebbuġ. The passengers were a 34-year-old woman and a four-month-old baby.  While the driver was fine, the mother and the child were taken to hospital, but suffered only minor injuries.

The passengers in the Yaris, which was driven by a 31-year-old woman from Attard, were not so lucky.  A 5-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl have been left with serious injuries.

Magistrate Yana Micallef Stafrace is leading the inquiry. Police investigations are underway.
