Residents of an apartment block on Triq Punet Msida were evacuated after police received a call about a man threatening to gas leak his apartment.

Police said a call was received at around 7pm that the suspect was making threats in his place, located near Msida Skatepark.

The motives behind the action are currently unknown.

The Civil Protection Department, police and an ambulance were on site while residents were evacuated from the block. The street was closed off while negiotiators escrted the man out of the building.

The suspect was taken to Mater Dei Hospital and later to Mount CarmelHosptial. No injuries were reported.
