Man Arrested For Stealing Historic Gold Medals From Birgu Maritime Museum
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for stealing two historic gold medals worth around €400,000 from the Birgu Maritime Museum.
The police said they were informed of the robbery at around 2pm on Monday and arrested the man, a Bormla resident, around two hours later. The stolen items were recovered.
The man is expected to be charged with theft later today.
The Maritime Museum recently reopened its doors after four years for a year-long exhibition about Malta’s identity as an island nation.
