Man Arrested In Connection With Violent Gozo Attack On Elderly Couple
A man has been arrested in connection with a violent attack on an elderly couple that reportedly involved one woman having her head slammed against a car.
A 29-year-old man of foreign nationality has been remanded in custody. It is believed that he is behind a violent assault on a British couple who were walking back to their apartment at 4am Sunday morning in Ta’ Bullara, Xagħra, Gozo.
When contacted by Lovin Malta, a police spokesperson said that the man’s nationality was yet to be confirmed, simply saying he is a foreigner.
The couple, a 55-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man, were reportedly approached by the man who attempted to assault the couple with a rock. When they tried to resist, the man reportedly slammed the woman’s head into a nearby car.
The couple were taken to Gozo General Hospital where the woman was confirmed to have grievous injuries and the man was confirmed to have slight injuries.
An inquiry was has been set up by Magistrate P. Coppini, while Police investigations are still ongoing.
