A 37-year-old was arrested after being found with several sachets of drugs, suspected to be cocaine and heroin.

The man, a 37-year-old, was arrested in Qawra at around 11.30am today, in Triq Annetto Caruana.

Policemen who were undergoing routine rounds in the area noticed a suspicious vehicle parked on a street corner.

When an officer spoke to the car’s owner and asked for his details to issue a fine, the officer felt that something illegal may be underway, and decided to search the car.

Upon searching it, officers found an undisclosed amount of cash, brass knuckles, 19 sachets of what is suspected to be heroin and 27 sachets of what is suspected to be cocaine.

The man is being kept at the Floriana Depot while investigations are underway. Magistrate Josette Demicoli is overseeing an inquiry in the find.
