A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection to thefts from religious sites around Siġġiewi and Żebbuġ.

In a statement, the police said it believes that the man broke into a sanctuary and a chapel, stealing several items, cash and a statute donation box.

The thefts happened over June.

Police investigations eventually led to them identifying the alleged thief, who was arrested in Żebbuġ on Monday morning.

He is will be charged in court today in front of Magistrate Noel Bartolo.
