A man is currently fighting for his life after he was hit by a car in Birkirkara this morning.

The incident took place at 7.20am on Triq Sir Anthony Mamo.

Initial investigations revealed the 37-year-old man from Pakistan, who lives in Sliema, was hit by a Hyundai Tuscon, which was being driven by a 58-year-old woman living in Naxxar.

The man received medical assistance and was transported to Mater Dei by ambulance and was later certified with serious injuries.

Magistrate Joseph Mifsud is leading an inquiry while police investigations are ongoing.
