Man Charged In Connection With Iklin Woman’s Suspected Murder In Gozo
A man will be charged over the suspected murder of a woman from Iklin in Gozo last weekend.
The charges come after the woman’s dead body was found on Saturday, with further investigations leading the police to now treat the death as a potential case of homicide.
Police were informed by a medical team from the Gozo General Hospital at around 12pm on Saturday, 26th February that they needed their assistance in a home in Triq Dun Franġisk Mizzi, Għajnsielem, Gozo.
Upon investigation, the body of a 49-year-old woman from Iklin was found dead.
Magistrate Bridgette Sultana appointed various experts to assist her in an inquiry.
However, new results from an autopsy undertaken on the body yesterday has now changed the dynamic of the case, with police now treating the death as a potential murder.
The Homicide Squad, working with District Police, arrested the man, who police said was of foreign nationality.
He will be charged in Gozo today at around 1.30pm while under arrest, charged with the murder of the woman. The exact nature of the man and woman’s relationship is as yet unclear.
