Man Charged With Locking Wife In Home For Nine Days In Malta

A man has been charged with locking his wife in their house for nine days against her will. 

The man, who is a 39-year-old Syrian national, was arrested on Sunday at their residence in St Julian’s. 

He has also been charged with threatening and injuring his wife. She was even taken to the health centre to deal with her injuries.

His name has been blocked from publication to protect the identity of the victim.

The alleged victim will testify during the first sitting of the compilation of evidence. No request for bail was made.
