The man who was found dead at sea off Xemxija this afternoon has been identified as 24-year-old Simon Psaila.
Psaila, who worked as a chef, died while practicing diving before work, TVM has reported.
The police said earlier that the young man’s body was recovered from the sea at around 5:15pm with the help of officials from the Civil Protection Department.
A magistral inquiry is ongoing to establish the cause of his death.
Psaila is the second Maltese man to die while diving in as many weeks, after 20-year-old Neil Zammit died at Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq.
