A man was injured after a fire broke out in a garage in Rabat this morning.

Police tended to the fire in Triq Karmena Micallef at around 8am this morning after plumes of smoke began emerging in the area.

Members of the Civil Protection Department as well as a team of medics from Mater Dei Hospital gave the man first aid; other people were in the garage but it is believed they were not injured in the fire.

The man was taken to hospital for further inspection. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Police investigations into the incident are still underway.
