A 40-year old man has been left in critical condition in a hit and run incident that involved another three cars during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The British man was struck by the vehicle at 3:15 am on Triq il-Kbira in Mellieħa. The driver, who was driving a Toyota Liteace vehicle, ran over the Briton while also colliding with another three parked cars along the road.

The driver abandoned the car. The police are still looking for them.

An ambulance rushed to the scene and took the man to Mater Dei.

A magisterial inquiry is underway.
