A father who sexually assaulted his own daughter twice back in 2004 has just been sentenced to 15 years in prison by Malta’s courts.

The Bormla man had sexually assaulted his daughter when she was just nine years old, with the victim only finding the courage to speak about it years later.

The man was found to have sexually assaulted her in their own residential home in Bormla, with justice being served 18 years after the crime was committed.

It was reported that the father used to enter the girl’s room and lock the door behind him.

The first time that he assaulted her, it happened in her brother’s room. The second assault then occurred in her own bedroom.

In the evidence presented, it was said that the father had warned the girl not to say anything about what he was doing to her, and it was only years later that she opened up about it.
