An armed man was tased and arrested after a violent outburst saw him injure three men in St Julian’s.

The incident took place at around 10.30pm last night and required immediate intervention from members of the Rapid Intervention Unit, who rushed to an establishment in St Julian’s, where a fight broke out.

The aggressor, a Spanish national armed with a knife and a glass bottle, assaulted several persons on site and injured three during the confrontation.

He resisted arrest and violently fought back to the point where RIU officers had to tase him in order to apprehend him.

Upon arrest, he was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for further observation.

A medical team tended to the three injured persons, a Swiss man who was grievously injured and two Italian gentlemen who got away with light injuries.

Prior to entering the establishment, the offender vandalised a car owned by a 28-year-old man from Pakistan. However, the driver himself was unhurt.

An inquiry has been launched while police investigations remain underway.
