Man Who Killed Daphne Caruana Galizia Temporarily Released From Prison To Attend Family Party
The man convicted of the murder of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was momentarily released from Malta’s prison to attend a family baptism party, all with the authorities’ blessing.
Revealed by Times of Malta a few moments ago, George Degiorgio was allowed out of prison temporarily on Friday night, with photos showing him smiling with his relatives.
A representative for the murderer has argued that the release was done with the correct paperwork, in accordance with all the necessary requests and authorisation from the relevant authorities.
“The Correctional Services Agency followed its procedures following those decisions,” adding that he was escorted by a special escort.
Last October, the DeGiorgio brothers pleaded guilty to murdering Caruana Galizia, being sentenced to 40 years in prison.
George and Alfred Degiorgio were arrested in December 2017, along with Vince Muscat, who was last year sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for the murder as part of a plea deal.
