Manuel Ciantar Identified As Victim Who Fell Two Storeys With His Truck In Mġarr
The man who tragically lost his life after a truck overturned and fell around two storeys into a construction site in Mġarr has been identified as 50-year-old Manuel Ciantar from Rabat.
The incident happened early on Tuesday afternoon in the Dwejra area of Mġarr.
Police said the truck Manuel was driving is believed to have suffered a mechanical failure while travelling downhill, possibly a brake fault, causing it to veer off the road and plunge into the site below.
Emergency services were alerted at around 2pm, with the accident estimated to have occurred about 45 minutes earlier.
A medical team and Civil Protection officers arrived to assist, but Manuel was certified dead at the scene.
Magistrate Monica Borg Galea has appointed an inquiry into the case and police investigations are ongoing.
