The Marsa Industrial Estate was evacuated and closed off as a precautionary measure following a gas leak at around 7am. 

The gas leak took place in Valletta Road, Ħal Luqa, right outside the Easygas gas storage facility. According to TVM, the leak was a result of a pressure pipe getting dislodged as a gas bowser was being refilled. 

No injuries have been reported. 

Police, emergency doctors, ambulances and Civil Protection Department officials were quickly called on site and the roads near the Easygas facility were closed off.
