Mater Dei Hospital Left Without Electricity For Almost An Hour As Generators Fail

The electricity shortages are seriously escalating – last night, Mater Dei Hospital was left without any electricity for almost an entire hour, as generators failed to kick in.
Sources confirmed that parts of the building did not have electricity in the dead of the night, including the emergency area.
However, essential services such as ITU were not impacted, with appliances being powered by battery in such cases.
The electricity reportedly went out at around 1am, lasting for around 40 minutes.
This is not the first time that Malta’s health services have suffered due to the ongoing power cuts, with Mount Carmel Hospital losing supply for hours last week.
Power cuts continued to persist throughout the night, with multiple localities such as Rabat, Sliema, Mosta, Naxxar and Qrendi impacted once again.
