‘Matthew Is Right’: Metsola Says Too Many Journalists Killed By Israel In Gaza
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said that “far too many civilians and far too many journalists have been killed by Israel in Gaza”.
Metsola spoke out after Matthew Caruana Galizia criticised her and other EPP politicians for not speaking anywhere near as loudly about journalists who are starving in Gaza as they did about the murder of his mother Daphne Caruana Galizia.
“If Roberta Metsola and other EPP politicians had to speak as loudly for each of these journalists as they did for my mother, they would be speaking about them for the rest of their lives. Are they children of a lesser god?” Caruana Galizia wrote, after AFP warned that its journalists in Gaza risk starving to death.
A spokesperson for Metsola then issued the following statement:
“Matthew Caruana Galizia is right. Far too many civilians and far too many journalists have been killed by Israel in Gaza. This is something Roberta Metsola has spoken out time and time again and will continue to do so.”
“This is why she has continuously kept up efforts for a lasting peaceful solution. President Metsola has always stood up for journalists and civilians, and she will keep doing so.”
