Meet Ricky: 23-Year-Old Maltese CEO With Leading Start-Up Looking For A New Addition To His Team
Ricky Galea is a 23-year-old CEO whose start up journey has driven his career to completely new heights, and he’s now looking for a new addition to the Trusted Tutors team.
Before we get into the role, let’s find out what, why and how Trusted Tutors came to be one of the leading educational institutes in Malta.
“Once I started tutoring, I developed this crazy unstoppable passion towards education, teaching and seeing kids ‘convert’ from hating a subject to wanting to pursue it as a career or seeing them overcome an obstacle to achieve their dreams,” Ricky admitted.
Trusted Tutors is a new and innovative Maltese company that was born out of a love for seeing children exceed their expectations, a passion that Ricky was exposed to at a tender age.
“My mum has been a Maths and Physics teacher and private tutor since I was born. Her passion towards her children was always so contagious and inspiring,” he recounted.
“She got stressed out for them during their exam period and thinks about them all the time. I never truly understood how this was possible until I started tutoring myself. Their problems and their achievements become yours, I’m not lying.”
Such an exposure to the industry led Ricky to try his hand at tutoring too. So in secondary school, he began helping students out and he instantly fell in love with the job.
As his passion grew, so did the workload and soon Ricky found himself unable to cope with the high demand due to his limited hours. Therefore, he began asking some of his friends to help out in covering some lessons.
“Following excellent feedback from parents, the idea was born.”
Trusted Tutors offers tuition for all subjects and levels. They tailor their services specifically for each and every student, whether they have certain “special needs, family commitments, specific topics and so on”.
It was set up to bridge the gap between students looking to upskill, and the tutors that can make that happen. The platform provides a one-stop shop that simplifies learning at every step of the way from sourcing the right tutor to booking, scheduling and payment.
Ricky has always had a knack for academia. At just 23-years-old, he already holds two Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Banking/Finance and Applied Accounting, along with another two Master’s in Economics and Accounting.
He placed first in Malta in three ACCA exams and has worked at three of the big four accounting firms in Malta.
However, the other side of Ricky shows a relaxed young man who loves travelling the globe, meeting new people, discovering new cultures and enjoys all things sports.
Due to the success that Trusted Tutors has garnered, Ricky is looking for someone to help him operate, market and grow the business as much as possible.
The entrepreneur is looking for an organised, highly motivated and adaptable person to fill the role as his Operations Assistant.
“We are looking for someone with a passion for education and the ability to help transform this company into the leading educational private institution in Malta, and share in our dream of reaching all students, irrespective of their age, nationality and ability,” the description reads.
“The suitable candidate must align strongly to our core values, and the belief that education is the key to moulding future generations’ minds.”
