Mellieħa Apartment Collapse: Victim’s Daughter And Grandson Left Home To Catch Flight That Same Morning
The daughter and grandson of the woman who was trapped in a block of apartments that collapsed in Mellie?a today had left the building to catch a flight this same morning.
TVM reported that the relatives had boarded a flight to the UK but were informed by police that their house had collapsed seven minutes before take-off. Police officers then escorted them off the plane and took them to hospital to visit their mother and grandmother.
It is unknown what caused the building to collapse at this stage, but fingers are already being pointed at a construction site which is located right next door. Parallels are also being drawn with how a block of apartments had collapsed in Gwardamangia last April as a result of careless construction.
