Mellieħa Restaurateur Warns Guests Refused Service ‘Based on Server’s Skin Colour’
A Mellieħa restaurateur has flagged an incident of racism at his restaurant, warning that a group of guests refused service from a server due to his skin colour.
“Yesterday, I witnessed an unfortunate incident at my restaurant that deeply saddened me,” Andrew Vella, who owns the Rebekah’s restaurant, said.
“A group of guests refused service from one of my valued team members simply because of his skin colour. This behaviour goes against everything we stand for at my restaurant.”
“I want to take this moment to express that I am immensely proud of every member of my team, and we believe in treating everyone with respect, dignity, and equality—both in our kitchen and with our guests.”
“We welcome everyone to our restaurant, and we expect the same level of respect and decency toward our staff. Discriminatory behaviour has no place in our establishment, and it will not be tolerated. Let’s continue to create an inclusive and positive environment for all.”
