‘I Hope Next Election We Can Talk About EU Issues’: Agius Saliba Speaks On Vitals Inquiry Effect
Labour MEP candidate Alex Agius Saliba said that the Vitals Healthcare inquiry timing affected the European Parliament electoral campaign by distracting public discourse.
“The biggest effect that the timing of this inquiry left in the electoral campaign is that instead of discussing EU issues we ended up speaking about unrelated issues,” Agius Saliba said, responding to a question asked by Lovin Malta upon his entrance to the Naxxar counting hall.
“I hope that in five years we’ll be here again after an electoral campaign discussing what the European Parliament has achieved and our ambitions for a Europe that is closer to our reality as a country.”
When asked by other journalists whether he was disappointed by the voting gap that has decreased dramatically, Agius Saliba maintained that politicians must remain close to the people of Malta and Gozo.
