Watch: ‘A Message Of Where They Want Malta And Europe To Go’ – Roberta Metsola On Young Voters
President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has said that the young people in Malta have sent a message about where they want the nation and Europe to go.
Metsola was swarmed by supporters when she entered the counting hall in Naxxar amid whispers that she’s made history, allegedly getting the most votes that any other MEP in Malta has gotten.
When asked about these rumours, Metsola said that “We will see, we need to wait”.
“What we can take from these results is that is that people voted. I thank all the young people who have voted for the first time, who have chosen to give a message about which direction they want Malta and Europe to go.”
So far, the only confirmed information is that candidates have won the most votes but it seems that the tide is changing with a suspected dramatic drop in the voting gap between PL and PN.
Initially, PN Secretary General Michael Piccinino estimated a gap of 15,000 to 20,000 votes. Estimates have since dropped closer to 10,000.
