‘Merħba Fis-Sajf Tax-Xitwa’: Franco Debono Says Malta Has ‘Two Summers’

Franco Debono is clearly not a fan of Malta’s climate.

With the island facing another dry and overcast day, the prominent lawyer said that Malta essentially has “two summers a year”.

“There is the summer of summer, from June to September, and the summer of winter, from October to mid-December,” Debono said.

“Today, 9th October, the weather is overcast, muggy and hazy with desert dust, and the heat clings to your body and makes you lose breath. This sort of weather dirties your lungs and makes your heart ache.”

Debono said that only people who like desert weather agree that Malta has the best climate in the world.

“We grew up believing that Malta has the best climate in the world but I rebelled against this too, because I like to think and reason things out and I don’t accept everything at face value.”

“The older I got, the more I realised that Malta has a desert climate, and what we have always been led to believe simply isn’t true. This is the best climate for those who love a desert climate, but for the rest, like me, this isn’t a beautiful climate.”

“Welcome to the summer of winter and remember what I said.”
