Metamorphosis, A New Project Conceptualised By Maltese People With Disabilities, Unveiled In Dingli
A new inspirational art project has been unveiled in Dingli showcasing Maltese creativity without limitations.
The inauguration of Metamorphosis, created by artist Chris Ebejer, saw the attendance of Warren Cordina, Johnny Vella, Keith Bonnici, Rosaria Zerafa, Karsten Abdilla, and Noel Cacciottolo from Sapport Agency, who were directly involved in the initial stages of sketching this project.
The artistic project includes an interactive sculpture that encapsulates concepts of life, freedom, and natural beauty. The project will become part of the Heritage Trail in the same locality.
Artist Chris Ebejer broke down the idea behind the installation.
“During the design of this sculpture, we used all the natural stages of transformation from a caterpillar to a butterfly. It symbolises life, joy, and freedom.”
“The concept behind this artwork is the harmony created through the butterflies, representing a society that creates one harmonious entity. The entire sketch was made from cardboard. In the design stages, we involved individuals with disabilities with satisfaction.”
“It is an artistic project that symbolises the concepts of resilience, life, freedom, and natural beauty, incorporating the concept of inclusivity,” Inclusion Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli said.
“The excellent idea by the artist, in its initial stage, involved the participation of people with disabilities, sending a powerful message in favor of inclusion. A message that should encourage the belief that people with disabilities should be considered just like anyone else,” she continued.
The Mayor of Ħad-Dingli, Raymond Schembri, emphasised that this project is a testament to the Local Council’s efforts to make this locality truly inclusive.
“We are currently working on three other projects that all revolve around this concept,” said the Mayor.
