Monkeypox Vaccine Lands In Malta, Will Be Given Out For Free To Primary Contact Cases
The first batch of vaccinations for the Monkeypox virus have landed in Malta.
Health Minister Chris Fearne announced the arrival, saying they come as part of an “EU Joint Procurement Mechanism” and that they’ll be “offered to primary contacts of confirmed Monkeypox cases free of charge”.
Since Malta has a lower incidence of Monkeypox, it only received the batch this week, with other countries receiving it last month. Around 30 cases of Monkeypox have been recorded on the island since May, with 0 deaths.
To anyone taking the vaccine, two doses are needed.
First doses of Monkeypox #vaccine in #Malta – as part of EU Joint Procurement Mechanism. Will be offered to primary contacts of confirmed #Monkeypox cases free of charge.
