The president of the Malta Union Of Midwives and Nurses, Paul Pace, has published a statement saying there are over 100 members of healthcare staff quarantined right now, a grim record for the country.

“New record of healthcare staff being sent on quarantine,” Pace said in his Facebook post. He also emphasises how they are being “deprived of their families and children.”

“And this is just the beginning,” Pace warned. “Winter will be worst.”

Malta has registered consecutive days of high double-digit cases of the virus, with rumours circulating of yet another recordbreaking announcement being made by Saħħa later today.

As it stands, there are 440 current active cases of COVID-19 in Malta, the highest there’s ever been snice the virus landed on our shores over five months ago.
