A 29-year-old man who lives in Mosta has been arrested after being found in possession of one kilogram of cannabis.

The man, who is from Greece, had been placed under surveillance by the Drug Squad. Yesterday, in the afternoon, the police followed a controlled consignment that was suspected to be hiding some contraband that had just arrived from Spain.

After the man collected the packet, he was arrested.

The package was opened and found to have around a kilo of cannabis inside.

Magistrate Marseann Farrugia was appointed various court experts in the inquiry into the find. The man is now expected to be charged with the importation and possession of cannabis not exclusively for his use.
