Marlin, 50, was a professional driver with Express Trailers and a car and motorbike enthusiast. Tributes have poured in for him on social media, including a sorrowful goodbye message from Express Trailers CEO Franco Azzopardi.

“Chris was one of our drivers, a member of our orange team, a member of our growing family and one of our road ambassadors,” Azzopardi said. “And as fate would have it, he left us on the very same roads he so diligently carried out his job with us.”

“Our thoughts and our prayers are now with his family and his friends whom he loved and cared for and who respected him for his great qualities which we as a company, also saw and valued in him. We thank you Chris, for your years of dedicated service, for your professionalism and your loyalty. We will remember you fondly and with gratitude.
