A magisterial inquiry has been launched to investigate the death of a Mount Carmel patient, who was found dead after he escaped the institution through a bathroom window. 

The health ministry said in a statement that the patient had voluntarily admitted himself into Mount Carmel on Friday, but escaped through a bathroom window the next day.

The hospital immediately informed the police and the man’s relatives and a search was launched out, but the man was found dead earlier today.

Police are treating the death as a suicide.
