MP Alex Borg Endorses PN Comeback For Franco Debono: ‘He Has A Lot To Offer’
Nationalist MP Alex Borg has endorsed a political comeback for Franco Debono, stating that he would like to see him more “active within the PN’s structures”.
After meeting Debono, Borg took a picture with the former PN MP and showered him with praise.
“Franco Debono’s name stirs up many opinions, questions, and sometimes even smiles among those who care about the PN and Malta,” he said.
“Whether you agree with him or not, the Franco we know well has a lot of zeal and love towards politics and Malta. One thing is certain – that he has no problem expressing himself.”

“He is very active through social media commentary, and practically every week, someone asks me whether I had seen what Franco has said.”
Without entering into the specifics, Borg said that he agrees with many of the points Debono has raised, although he disagrees with others.
“I had the pleasure of meeting him today and we had an open discussion. I believe that Franco still has a lot to offer.”
Despite the acrimonious nature of Debono’s departure from PN frontline politics in 2013, Borg pointed out that time can heal many wounds and that goodwill can go a long way.
“We need to unite to pave a path that honours the country and nation,” he said.
“I therefore urge him to contribute, to keep showing goodwill and to keep approaching the PN so that together we can make Malta a better place for us and, above all, our children. I urge Franco and people of goodwill to be more active within the party structures.”

Debono has confirmed he wants to return to the Nationalist Party and, in a recent interview with Lovin Malta, said he would even consider running for the upcoming European Parliament elections on the Nationalist Party ticket if the PN asks him to.
He said people approach him in the streets and on social media every single day to urge him to return to the PN.
PN executive member Roberta Bonello has already come out in favour of a comeback for Debono and said she would personally recommend his reintegration to the PN executive if he asks her to.
