A 29-year-old Ħamrun resident lost control of his Smart last night and overturned into the Msida Skatepark.

However, police have certified that his injuries are of a grievous nature, meaning he is not at risk of death.

Police were informed about the accident which occurred in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli, Msida at around 10.45pm.

He was soon given assistance by a medical team and was taken to Mater Dei by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

Later, he was certified to be suffering from grievous injuries.

Footage from the site seemed to show that the incident could have been much worse, with a number of young people who happened to be in the park when the accident happened looking on in utter confusion as police and members of the Civil Protection Department descended onto the scene.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.
