Nationalist MEP Candidate Sticks Up For Michelle Muscat After Prime Minister’s Wife Mocked For Outfit Choice

Nationalist MEP candidate Roselyn Borg Knight has urged people not to mock or judge the Prime Minister’s wife Michelle Muscat by the outfit she wore to the recent inauguration of President George Vella.

“The sad truth all over the world is that there isn’t an outfit a woman can wear without being judged by it,” Borg Knight said. “But there is much more to a woman, every woman, even Mrs. Muscat, then what she wears.”

“I might not have chosen the same outfit that Mrs. Muscat wore for the Presidential ceremony but my issue would not have been with the hat, the colour, nor the length of skirt. My issue would have been with what looks like a real fur accessory on her arm. But of course I live in the hope that it’s faux fur and that no animals were harmed for the sake of fashion.”

“In the meantime, in the name of equality and diversity I urge you all to judge women on what they say and not on their appearance, even if it’s Mrs. Muscat.”

Muscat’s choice of outfit, a cream and white headdress with a matching dress, was mocked and criticised by a number of people on social media, with some commenting that her headpiece resembled a frisbee or a toilet seat.
