Nationalist MP Gives Helping Hand To Statue Bearers During Good Friday Procession
Nationallist MP Edwin Vassallo joined the statue bearers on their traditional Good Friday procession through Mosta this evening.
Vassallo, a former Mosta mayor, was one of the people marching besides the statue bearers with a stick in his hand, which he thumped on the ground to signal to the statue bearers that it was time for a break.
Vassallo is one of the most staunch Catholics in the Maltese Parliament and indeed was the only MP who voted against a Bill to legalise gay marriage last year. More recently, he has warned that the removal of specific reference to the protection of embryos in a revamped Domestic Violence Bill has moved Malta another step closer towards the legalisation of abortion.
